Hiding Unsightly Home Cables
With the tangle of wires winding along the floor, it is only a matter of time before the unsuspecting member of the household trips or, worse, gets electrocuted. Indeed, it is hard to blame the person when cables in the home office could come in virtually all varieties—whether for the computer, monitor, modem, external hard drive, or printer. Although you could buy different kinds of hardware, cup hooks, partitions, covers, and cable organisers in most home improvement stores, in reality there is no need to spend so much money to achieve this task. In fact, all you need are a few simple items that you could easily find in most hardware outlets.
One way is to use a surge protector. Have one that could be hung on the wall or secured to the desk’s underside by a double-sided adhesive, which usually comes with the unit. You simply have to place it in such a way that its cord could easily reach the outlet on the wall.
Before using the surge protector, unplug all the cords. Untangle them until they hang without twists or knots. Grab this chance to clean cables and plugs. Wipe them clean with a soft cloth so that you could get rid of hair, dirt, and dust. You could then bundle each of them and secure the excess with twist ties or an electrical tape.
Another simple yet effective way to hide those unsightly computer wires in the house is to screen all of them. You could do this by buying a fabric and cutting it to a certain length that would fit the back portion of your table. With the use of a tack hammer and tacks, fasten it to your desk.
